About Plant Safari

Plant Safari nursery is located in Carpinteria, California, along the coastal plain south of Santa Barbara, just off the famous 101 Freeway. Our long growing season and mild climate—protected on two sides by ocean and mountains—creates favorable conditions for the propagation and growth of many species of plant life.

Plant Safari springs from the collaboration of two partners, Robert Abe, whose family has forty years of nursery experience in Carpinteria, and Jeffrey Green, who brings many years of retail and marketing experience to the team.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is to provide a wide and unusual assortment of healthy plants to the public through a user-friendly website and mail order catalogs. Our mission is to make plant shopping fun and easy. We will strive to offer new and exciting varieties of plants continually and to provide for effortless shopping and ordering.

Seaside Gardens

Our next-door neighbor is Seaside Gardens, a retail nursery which features a two-acre display garden. The garden is comprised of ten themed areas: Asia, Australia, California natives, Central American, Cottage, Grass meadow, Mediterranean, South American, Succulents, and Tropical. Each zone was designed by a different local garden designer, giving the visitor a look at different styles and combinations. Many of the plants in the garden serve as cutting stock for Plant Safari.
